The Country Girl

Oscar-winning drama starring Bing Crosby as Frank Elgin, an alcoholic singer/actor who gets a surprising second chance when cynical director Bernie Dodd (William Holden) casts him in the leading role of his new musical. When things don't quite work out, Dodd blames Elgin's dynamic wife Georgie (Grace Kelly). Based on a Clifford Odets play, the drama garnered some of Crosby's best reviews as well as serving up a Best Actress Oscar for Kelly.
